Stung by the spate of devastating toy recalls last fall, Wayne, New Jersey-based Toys ‘R’ Us reported a US$76 million loss in the third quarter of 2007.
The loss is a stark contrast to the net profit of US$41 million that the retail giant posted for the same period in 2006.The results were released yesterday as the company gears up for what it hopes will be a bottom-line bolstering holiday season.
One bright spot is that TRU’s sales volume was up 9.7% from Q3 2006 to US$2.7 billion.
