India’s Cinnamon Entertainment has paired up with the Beeb to deliver 40-ep, big-budget toon Freefonix.

The US$20 million CGI series will launch on CBBC on January 4 and was written and produced by Magnus Fiennes, brother of actors Joseph and Ralph. It is set 50 years in the future in the city of Los Bosmos and stars three mismatched heroes from different sides of the tracks who join together to form a mystical band called Freefonix.

Upstart toonhouse Cinnamon Entertainment’s first series Finley the Fire Engine began airing on BBC in July.
