Edison, New Jersey-based Sakar International has crossed the finish line first and secured a license to develop consumer electronics for the highly anticipated 2008 summer would-be blockbuster theatrical release Speed Racer.

Sakar will debut its Speed Racer consumer electronics at the Toy Fair in February but early word is that the collection will include digital still and video cameras, alarm clocks, walkie-talkies, flashlights and MP3 players. Prices will range between US$5 and US$80 and will launch through major retail channels coinciding with the May 9 2008 release of the film.

Speed Racer is a Warner Bros. Pictures production, directed by Matrix mavens the Wachowski brothers and stars Emile Hirsch and Christina Ricci.

Also in Sakar news, the company will be rolling out a girl-skewing line of electronics in 2008 dubbed Pink. The line will feature a full spectrum of computer accessories designed with girls in mind.
