New York City-based Worldwide Biggies, headed up by former Nickelodeon bigwig Albie Hecht, has optioned all platform rights to the blockbuster adventure-book franchise Tom Swift from Simon & Schuster.

Biggies intends to launch the entertainment franchise through feature films, followed by online and television series.

Tom Swift chronicles the life of a teenage genius who has a knack for problem-solving and a talent for conjuring up fantastical inventions. The series, created by Edward Stratemeyer, was largely written by a number of ghostwriters over the years under the nom de plume, Victor Appleton

The prodco has yet to announce a development timeline for the films and ancillary projects. But expect Hecht and his team, which developed one of Nick’s new hits The Naked Brothers Band, to put a modern twist on the character created in the middle of the last century.
