Disney Channel has become the first third-party channel brand to confirm that it will join the lineup on Picnic TV, the new pay-TV service that satellite distributor Sky is proposing to launch on digital terrestrial television (DTT) in the UK.

Disney Channel will be available to Picnic TV customers between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. every day, offering a mix of Disney Channel and Playhouse Disney content. The early-morning and afternoon slots will broadcast hit Disney Channel shows like Hannah Montana, while morning and lunchtime blocks will cater to the preschool audience with Playhouse Disney faves such as Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and My Friends Tigger & Pooh.

The service will be the first time that the Disney Channel content will be available through aerials.

On top of the TV service, Picnic also plans to offer customers broadband and phone service options. Sky is currently waiting to get the greenlight from Ofcom for the proposed TV service before setting a launch date.
