Aardman Animations is using its well-known property Creature Comforts to help UK-based charity Leonard Cheshire Disability put people’s attitudes towards the disabled under the microscope and, perhaps, change them.
Aardman’s animation team helped create Creature Discomforts, a campaign for the organization that features a bull terrier in a wheelchair, a stick insect with a cane and a tortoise on crutches voiced by disabled people who describe the negative attitudes and barriers they encounter everyday.
TV and print ads starring the new characters will be seen on TV, online, in magazines and at bus stops around the UK in the New Year.
For a preview, check out www.creaturediscomforts.org. The toons will go to air on ITV in January.
