Pokémon USA is tapping the retro well for its upcoming holiday retail promotion with trendsetter Hot Topic. Interestingly, the new line of apparel and accessories sporting the first generation of Pokémon characters that were such a big hit with boys in the mid-’90s is aimed squarely at the teen/tween girl market.

Targeted towards tweens and teens, the merchandise will feature a mix of retro style and Japanese influence to expand the brand’s reach with the underserved girls demo. Vividly hued tshirts, a cotton-knit lounge/boxer set, belt buckles, canvas tote bags, pen sets, journals, rubber buttons, stickers, key chains, cell phone charms and wrist bands are all part of the line up that ranges in price from US$3.99 to US$50.00.

The goods should be in all US Hot Topic outlets by early November.
