Scholastic has promoted Ellie Berger to president of trade publishing, succeeding Lisa Holton, who resigned from the post to launch a new media venture.

Berger joined Scholastic in 1985 as managing editor, and has since held numerous positions at the company. She was also instrumental in negotiating strategic relationships with licensors and helped expand Scholastic’s licensed publishing business.

Since 1998, she has been involved in guiding production and manufacturing operations for every Harry Potter book published, and now reports directly to Richard Robinson, chairman, president and CEO of Scholastic.
