Ian Foster has taken the helm as new MD of Universal Pictures UK, the operating company of international home entertainment division Universal Pictures International Entertainment.
Previously commercial director of Entertainment UK, Foster’s achievements included securing a major contract with retail giant Tesco, playing a lead role in the 2006 acquisition of THE (the UK’s number-two entertainment distributor), and growing EUK’s share of the book market to 8%. Prior to that, he held the post of MD at Woolworths Group subsidiary Demon Music Group.
Foster takes over from Johnny Fewings, who had been acting as interim UK managing director for the past nine months. Fewings has subsequently been appointed to the new role of VP of strategic initiatives for UPIE.
