Disney Consumer Products chief Andy Mooney has long-vowed that the company’s current sales only covered the tip of the iceberg and expansion possibilities for its IP were almost limitless. Well, DCP’s most recent deal with one of the US’s largest homebuilders KB Home Studios is taking the licensor into more uncharted territory. The pair has struck a deal through which the L.A.-based residential developer will offer Disney Home products to its new home buyers.
Beginning in 2008, purchasers of KB Home will be able to create custom Disney rooms in their own new homes before they’re even built. So along with granite countertop samples and flooring options, many Disney products will be on offer at all KB Home Studio locations as new homeowners choose the interior finishes for their abodes.
The Disney Home range encompasses myriad products, including flooring, window coverings, lighting and more. And, of course, several feature iconic Disney characters and franchises prominently.
To kick-off the collaboration, KB Home is launching an eight-week Magical Dream Sweepstakes in which Disney fans can come to any KB Home community and enter to win one of 10 children’s bedrooms fully stocked with Disney furniture. Beginning this weekend, customers at KB Home locations will receive Disney-themed merch such as children’s lunch boxes, watches, notebooks and crayons.
