Nick Jr. in the UK is simultaneously debuting CGI animated series The Magic Roundabout on-air and online in October, and hopes that the revamp will develop the same kind of devoted kid following as the ’60s original did.

Produced out of France in stop-frame, The Magic Roundabout first bowed in 1965 and quickly became a cult hit. The new CGI version, a co-pro between Nick UK and Film Action/Action Synthese/Play Productions/Ellipsanime for M6, was animated by Action Synthese in France, with scripts and voicework done in the UK. Licensing rights in Britain were recently acquired by Entara.

The world premiere of the first ep will run on October 22 at 8 a.m., airing simultaneously on Nick Jr., Nick Jr. 2 and the Nick Jr. digital platform in the TMF programming block. This lead segment will also be available for online viewing via Nick Jr. Video, the free broadband video player housed on www.nickjr.co.uk.
