Game Lounge, a new gaming channel available on DirectTV, will offer subscribers a host of gaming options through the satellite TV provider. To bolster the platform, DirectTV has signed a long-term exclusive deal with Mattel to use all of its brands, including Hot Wheels, Barbie and UNO, on the channel.
As well, DirectTV has also signed an agreement with Nickelodeon to feature properties such as SpongeBob SquarePants and Avatar on the interactive channel.
Game Lounge will highlight several different categories of games, including puzzles, word games, card games and arcade-style games. Customers will be able to play the games using the DirectTV remote control.
Game Lounge will cost subscribers US$5.95 a month or US$1.95 for one full day of access.
