For the first time in their 34-year history, nominees for the Children’s Emmy Awards were honored at a separate ceremony hosted at our very own KidScreen Summit being held at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers New York City last night. John Tartaglia, creator of Disney Playhouse’s live action/puppet series Johnny and the Sprites, got some help from his chirpy Sprites while announcing the finalists competing in 12 award categories designated by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. Also one for the history books, the Academy unveiled a new best of category for Broadband Children’s last night.

The elated nominees will have to hold tight until the June 15 Annual Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony, but in the meantime here’s the list of shows that got the nod. You can also find a detailed breakdown at emmyonline.org. Congrats to all!
