Teletubbies and Tweenies join Germany’s elite
The BBC has signed Munich-based licensing agency elite licence to represent Teletubbies and Tweenies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. German rights for the two properties were freed up after StudioCanal’s licensing arm closed shop at the end of April. Bartley Grosserichter, a partner in elite, introduced both properties to the German market during her stint at StudioCanal Licence. To smooth the transition and discuss new marketing initiatives, elite is currently organizing a meeting with existing licensees.
International agents glom onto animated Bean
Tiger Aspect’s Mr. Bean toon remains a hot seller on the broadcast scene, and international agents are clamoring for merch rights to the 26 x 22-minute series. Just-inked rep deals include V.I.P. for France, Saban Consumer Products in Italy, Anima2 in Spain and Portugal and EEMC in Eastern Europe.
Entertainment Rights grabs Finger Tips
Keeping its finger on the pulse of global broadcast trends, Entertainment Rights has secured international TV, video and licensing rights to CiTV activity show Finger Tips. ER will release the series via its vid label Right Entertainment, as well as developing a full-scale merch program that taps into the series’ creative play ideology.
The alphabet gets a licensing agent
Red Sky Entertainment has signed on as worldwide agent for Eurpsville Entertainment preschool property Alphabet Eurps–a group of whimsical letters with eyes, feet, personalities and phonic-based names. Red Sky is looking to sign a publishing deal and secure a media agreement with a big-name prodco over the next year as building blocks for a preschool merch program.
