San Francisco-based media company JP Kids has purchased teen website react.com from Parade Publications.

According to JP Kids chairman and CEO James Steyer, the acquisition is consistent with a convergence strategy to develop properties on-line and across multiple media platforms. Three-time winner of the Clarion Award for Best Web Site, react.com covers news, pop culture, relationships and current issues.

JP Kids was attracted to react.com for several reasons. ‘React.com has proven to be a very popular brand and a successful site with its core audience [kids nine to 14],’ says Steyer. ‘We liked the proven brand equity and the values it stands for in empowering kids.’ The acquisition offers JP Kids an opportunity to capitalize on the strength of the react.com brand by extending it beyond the Net. And, says Steyer, JP Kids offers react.com a ‘strong, secure financial base as well as the opportunity to be part of a broader, converged media property.’
