Alliance Atlantis Communications (Toronto, Canada, 416-967-1174): Sharon Capotosto has been upped to VP of merchandising and licensing of Alliance Atlantis Television Distribution from her previous position as director of merchandising and licensing.

Animal Planet (Bethesda, Maryland, 301-986-1999): David E. Gerber has been upped from director to VP of production.

Artisan Entertainment (Santa Monica, California, 310-449-9200): Naomi Pollock has been named senior VP of marketing for the home video and DVD distribution company.

Bardel Animation (Vancouver, Canada, 604-669-5589): Carole Ducharme has been brought on-board as executive producer.

BBC (London, England, 44-181-576-2000): In the children’s drama department, Elaine Sperber has been named executive producer, and Cas Lester will be joining as drama development executive.

Buena Vista Internet Group (North Hollywood, California, 818-623-3200): Steve Bornstein has been named chairman of the company, and Beth Collins has been named VP and GM of Disney’s Family.com.

Buena Vista Pictures (Burbank, California, 818-295-5200): Geoffrey Ammer and Oren Aviv take over as co-presidents of marketing from departing president of marketing Chris Pula.

Children’s Television Workshop (New York, New York, 212-595-3456): Gary E. Knell will take over from retiring David Britt as president and CEO, effective January 1, 2000. Knell most recently held the position of executive VP and COO at CTW. Joe Diaz has been appointed group president of products and international television. He will supervise product licensing worldwide for all CTW properties, including Dragon Tales. Risa Nelson has been named director of international licensing for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. She is responsible for overseeing product licensing and retail operations related to Sesame Street co-productions and other CTW properties.

Ciné-Groupe (Montreal, Canada, 514-524-7567): Valerie Gray joins the prodco as director of development.

Columbia TriStar International Television (Los Angeles, California, 310-202-1234): Keith Le Goy has been named senior VP of European distribution. Le Goy was formerly VP of sales for Europe at Walt Disney Television International.

Cumulus Distribution (London, England, 44-171-602-6351): Clarissa Alvarez Hoey has been appointed director of sales for the distribco that handles The Enid Blyton Adventure Series and The Adventures of Swiss Family Robinson.

Disney/ABC Cable Networks (Burbank, California, 818-569-7500): Charlie Nooney and Fred Kuperberg have both been upped to executive VPs, for sales and affiliate marketing and business and legal affairs respectively.

Disney Publishing Worldwide (New York, New York, 212-633-4400): Lisa Holton has been upped to senior VP and publisher of global children’s books from her previous position as VP and group publisher of Disney Children’s Book Group. Deborah Dugan has also been promoted to VP of global licensing and business development, and Steve Aster has been named VP of circulation and global operations.

Fireworks (London, England, 44-171-868-8541): Vincent Menendez has joined this CanWest company as sales manager of South East Asia and Latin America, Clare Roberts comes on-board as marketing and administration executive, and Catherine Nebauer has been named European sales manager.

Film Roman (Hollywood, California, 818-761-2544): COO Bill Shpall and senior VP Jon Vein are taking on the responsibilites of exiting president and CEO David Pritchard until a successor is named.

Fox Interactive (Los Angeles, California, 310-369-3900): Jeff Nuzzi has been named director of retail marketing. Nuzzi was formerly the director of marketing at DreamWorks Interactive.

Fox Kids Europe (London, England, 44-171-554-9000): Marc-Antoine d’Halluin has been named group managing director of channels. He will be responsible for the operations of all European Fox Kids channels, with duties including scheduling, on-air promotions, distribution and marketing.

Good Times Entertainment (New York, New York, 212-951-3000): Lauren Murphy has been appointed marketing manager.

HarperCollins Publishers (New York, New York, 212-207-7000): Bill Boedeker has been named VP and director of retail marketing of children’s books.

Harvey Entertainment (Los Angeles, California, 310-789-1990): Glenn R. Weisberger has been appointed senior VP and general counsel.

HIT Entertainment (London, England, 44-171-224-1717): Nigel Birrell has been named head of mergers and acquisitions, a new post at the company, and Hayley Walker has been appointed product manager in the consumer products division. Pilar Jenkins also joins as managing director of publishing.

IMAX (Toronto, Canada, 905-403-6500): Mary Pat Ryan has been appointed to the new position of executive VP of IMAX and network group president, based out of the New York office.

Infogrames Entertainment (San Jose, California, 408-289-1200): Stan Roach has been promoted to COO, responsible for sales, marketing and product development, from his previous position as executive VP of marketing. Arra Yerganian comes on-board as senior VP of marketing.

ITEC (Orlando, Florida, 407-226-0200): Dena O’Malley joins the entertainment design and technology company as marketing manager.

Lee Hunt Associates (New York, New York, 212-966-2300): Bob Shea has been upped to creative director from his post as art director of the entertainment brand specialist company. Clients include Fox Kids and Disney Channel.

PBS (Alexandria, Virginia, 703-739-5000): Steven Gray has been upped to VP of program scheduling and PBS channels from director of program scheduling, and Dan Hamby has been promoted to VP of PBS Home Video from his previous position as senior director, program acquisitions, producer and station services.

Portfolio Entertainment (Toronto, Canada, 416-483-9773): Marina Cordoni has been upped to the new position of VP of distribution from her previous job as head of sales and acquisitions.

Salsa Distribution (Paris, France, 33-1-55-33-1300): Jerry Diaz joins the company as VP of international sales from his previous position as director of Latin American sales for Hearst Entertainment.

Scholastic Publishing (New York, New York, 212-343-6100): Barbara Marcus has been named president of Scholastic Children’s Books, in addition to her current position as executive VP of Scholastic.

Sony Pictures Entertainment (Los Angeles, California, 310-244-4000): Mel Harris joins the company as co-president and COO, titles he shares with Bob Wynne. Masayuki Nozoe has been upped to co-president of digital entertainment. Patrick Walters takes over day-to-day operation of the Global Strategic Marketing Group in the wake of the departure of Mark Workman as senior VP of the division.

Sony Pictures Family Entertainment (Culver City, California, 310-244-4000): Sony Pictures Family Entertainment Group appoints five development execs, including: Bob Higgins, upped to senior VP of creative affairs; Stacey Attanasio as senior VP of production; Joe D’Ambrosia as executive director of creative affairs; Tara Polacik, upped to director of creative affairs; and Grace Benn as creative director.

He was formerly director of the music division for Walt Disney Enterprises of Japan. Michael Bessolo has also been upped to senior VP of marketing at Walt Disney Records.
