Toronto’s Devine Entertainment has optioned two award-winning novels targeted at young adults. Hero of a Lesser Cause by Julie Johnston (winner of the Governor General’s Award for children’s literature) is a candidate for a Devine-produced MOW, and the company plans to make The Prince of Tarn by Hazel Hutchins (winner of the R. Ross Annett award for children’s literature from the Writer’s Guild of Alberta) into a feature film. Devine is best known as the producer of the award-winning Composer, Inventor and Artists specials for HBO.
