A series of original cartoon shorts for Major League Baseball are currently in the development stage, with the goal of airing this season both in stadiums and interstitially on MLB-produced TV programs. MLB is entering a development agreement with New York-based Grand Slam Entertainment, and is hopeful that the baseball character-filled animation will serve as a launch pad for merchandising efforts to be spearheaded by MLB Properties. The game plan also calls for the development of the shorts into a 26 x half-hour TV series for spring 2000. No animation production partners have yet been announced.
