Klasky Csupo’s Commercials Division has added eight animation moguls to its roster of independent directors in a bid to move beyond 2-D animation and tackle stop-motion, CGI and mixed media. To celebrate the move, the division was renamed Class-Key Chew-Po Commercials-which will help people pronounce the parent company’s name, if nothing else.
The new talent includes Corky Quakenbush, known for his MADtv stop-motion, Stressed Eric creative producer Stig Berqvist, mixed-media music video director Jim Blashfield, Sesame Street animator Sally Cruikshank, Call Me Fishmael director Steven Dovas, Everybody’s Pregnant director Debra Solomon, computer painter John Haugse and Mike Johnson, director of the stop-motion feature The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
The beefed up division is headed by exec producers John Andrews, formerly at MTV, and Klasky Csupo producer Liz Seidman.
