Where We Live Productions, based in Ashland, Oregon, is in pre-production on a live-action home video series based on Scholastic’s fantasy-adventure book series called The Jewel Kingdom, which has sold over 1.2 million copies worldwide since January.
The first of the 12-title vid series, The Ruby Red Princess Runs Away, has an initial budget of US$1.2 million, and is slated for release in the second quarter of 1999. Where We Live also picked up ancillary rights to the publishing property, and plans to package each title with a premium toy in order to jump-start the branding process for the series and related merchandise.
