PARIS: Characters from Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network’s The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest will get a merchandising boost across France next spring when broadcaster TF1 begins airing the series.

Already airing in Europe on Cartoon Network, TF1 picked up the broadcast and licensing and merchandising rights for spring 1997. Plans include Jonny Quest toys, video games, CD-ROMs, linen and apparel.

– USA Networks signs European agent

New York-based USA Networks has named Yaffa Character Licensing of London, England, as its European licensing agent. This is the company’s first step in licensing overseas, and initially Yaffa’s efforts will support Sci-Fi Channel Europe. While Sci-Fi Channel Europe is available through cable and direct-to-home distribution in the U.K., Scandinavia and the Benelux countries, Yaffa will concentrate on licensing agreements in the U.K. and the Republic of Ireland. Yaffa currently handles properties such as The Smurfs, The Phantom, The Lone Ranger, Flash Gordon and Popeye.
