In an effort to help foster understanding of production mechanisms and to determine ways to launch co-productions, the French Independent Animation Producers Association (SPFA) organized a two-day conference for independent producers prior to the NATPE-organized Art of Animation in Los Angeles.

For U.S. independent producers, European co-productions have become a way to escape the networks’ demands on rights and find easier access to European broadcasters. And, according to Klasky Csupo’s president and CEO Terry Thoren, ‘France has become the best country for financial and creative cooperation.’

Organizers hope for a regular meetings coinciding with markets and festivals so as to continue the exchange of ideas.
