PARIS: Fantome, the production company headed by Georges Lacroix, has started production on Tous sur Orbite, a 3-D animated series of educational shorts on the solar system. Directed by Nicolas Gessner, it will be a 100 percent French product, co-produced by France 3, La Cinquieme and Fantome Animation, and distributed by TeleImages.
Tous sur Orbite is scheduled to air in January 1997 on France 3 and every weekend on La Cinquieme. The series will also be developed into video, CD-ROM and book products.
Tous sur Orbite hopes to match the success of Insektors, the first 3-D animation series of its kind, which sold to more than 20 countries.
At the recent MIP-TV market, Lacroix was looking for international partners on the 13 x 26 minute new Insektors season, budgeted at 35 million francs.
