PARIS: France 2 has launched a new genre of animation series that includes live-action sequences. Extreme Mission, the Adventures of Action Man (26 x 30) airs every Wednesday morning, and was produced by DIC Entertainment. Actor Mark Griffin has the leading role. The series also launched in Great Britain (BSkyB), Spain, Italy and Germany.

The show is based on an Action Man toy created by Hasbro in 1993. The toy is an updated version of the 1970s action figure Action J’e.

The show is being promoted by Hasbro France through billboards and games. The company has also developed a significant licensing and merchandising program, with France as the leading market, along with Great Britain.

3D License, Hasbro’s French licensing division, has already signed up 16 contracts for licenses in sports gear, games and toys, bags, watches and clocks and confectionery products. These items will be in stores for September and a fast food operation will come on board in November.

McDonald’s Restaurants and French Quick are cited as possible promotional partners.
