After officially stepping into the building toy category in August following the acquisition of Meccano, Spin Master has launched its first construction toys under its new Ionix brand, featuring a line based on its animated co-pro with ShoPro, Tenkai Knights.
Children’s toy and entertainment company Spin Master – the largest of its kind in Canada – is throwing itself into the building category with the acquisition of 112-year-old construction toy brand Meccano (known as Erector Set in the US).
Toy manufacturer Spin Master will serve as the global master toy licensee for DreamWorks’ Dragons franchise, which includes the newly launched television series as well as the sequel to the original How to Train Your Dragon film.
Last year, Angry Birds burst onto the US consumer products scene, and other app makers quickly flocked to cash in on the kids licensing market. So far, none have rivalled the churlish chicks at retail, leaving many to question the long-term ancillary life of app-based properties.
Canadian toyco Spin Master is set to launch its new La Dee Da doll line for girls ages six to 10 on August 9 with a special event in New York’s Times Square.
