Nickelodeon is once again on the hunt for new creative talent and is calling for global submissions for its annual Animated Shorts Program. This year marks the third installment of the program, which is designed to identify and develop new animation talent and provide new content for kids.
American media conglomerate Viacom, home to such kid and youth-friendly cable networks as Nickelodeon and MTV as well as movie studio Paramount, saw its profits rise 16% during the first quarter of this year after offsetting revenue declines within its movie business.
David Bernath and Barbara Zaneri have been tapped to jointly lead Viacom’s newly formed acquisitions group that will span cross its US media networks including Nickelodeon and Nick at Nite.
Nickelodeon has announced it will premiere Wallykazam!, the kidsnet’s first preschool series with an embedded literacy curriculum, as a free download on iTunes the week of January 27, which is before the show makes its Nickelodeon debut on February 3.
