Netflix has confirmed the appointment of former Nickelodeon SVP of live-action development Brian Wright to a senior executive role that will see Wright head up original kids and family programming for the popular streaming service.
Nick is switching things up for its annual Worldwide Day of Play. This year, three of its on-air hosts will literally take the show on the road, travelling to various US cities and hosting local events to build excitement for the big day, September 20, when Nick will go dark in an effort to get kids outside and active.
PBS led once again in the children’s categories at the Daytime Emmy Awards, claiming 12 wins in the creative arts segment at the 41st annual awards show, which took place Sunday evening in L.A. Nickelodeon was close behind with 10 awards, followed by The Hub with six nods, Cartoon Network with two and Disney Channel with one.
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles are marking 30 years of ninjutsu crime fighting this year – and now the anthropomorphic turtles are celebrating their return to Nickelodeon in a fourth season of the CG-animated series. Nickelodeon has also revealed more details surrounding products inspired by this summer’s feature film.
Nickelodeon has ordered 13 episodes of comedic gem The Loud House, the first series to be greenlit from its 2013 Animated Shorts Program.
