London, UK-based Cake Entertainment has secured a home entertainment deal in the UK with Lionsgate for its preschool property Poppy Cat.
For a series that launched in the UK on Nick Jr. at the beginning of last month, it’s too early to relay ratings news on Poppy Cat. However, the 52 x 11-minute preschool show produced by UK-based Coolabi and King Rollo Films had already fast-tracked its way to a raft of licensing agreements and international sales well before its debut.
Coming out of the MIPTV market currently underway in France is news that Spain-based Zinkia Entertainment has taken a 51% stake in UK-based children’s production company Cake Entertainment. Under the joint venture, which is designed to bolster content brand management and distribution opportunities, both companies will maintain their own management, teams and identities.
Streaming video content has become a standard feature of kidcaster websites the world over, but UK-based virtual world BinWeevils is putting a new spin on online VOD. It’s so novel, in fact, that Cartoon Network and Nickelodeon UK have handed over a whack of content to the service, along with several indie distributors like Cake Entertainment.
