It’s been a—dare we say—heroic year for Spin Master, which became the global master toy partner for FELD Entertainment’s Monster Jam truck brand and the new home of DC Comics’ boy-focused action products. For the second year in a row, the Canadian toy and entertainment giant has topped the Hot50 Licensing charts.
Starting in 2020, Spin Master’s DC partnership will last three years, and grants access to heroes including Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman. “Partnering with an iconic brand like DC is a major milestone for Spin Master,” says global licensing EVP Susie Lecker. “Children everywhere have been entertained and inspired by DC superheroes and supervillains for more than 80 years, and we’re honored to be a part of that storytelling and imagined play.”
Spin Master began 2019 firing on all cylinders with its newly revved Monster Jam line. The fresh fleet of trucks and sets is the start of a 10-year deal with FELD.
“The Monster Jam launch has exceeded our expectations,” Lecker says. “We believe there is so much opportunity with this license, and we are excited to further innovate in RC, play sets and vehicles.”
This past year also saw Spin Master score toy rights for new DreamWorks Animation preschool series Gabby’s Dollhouse. “The most important element is the story and the characters being unique and relevant,” says Lecker. “This partnership further strengthens our preschool portfolio of both proprietary and licensed IPs.” The product line will launch in 2021, following the show’s Netflix debut.
