Understanding the Advertiser’s Perspective

Hi all!

I’m just about to take off for the holidays, but before I go, I wanted to let you know about a new session that we recently added to the Summit agenda.

Jens Bachem and his team at Digital Outlook are hard at work on a new research study that checks in with major kids advertisers to find out how they engage kids and families, what they think of the broadcast and online platforms they use, and what circumstances might cause them to increase their kid spend.

Jens will present the results exclusively at KidScreen Summit in a session called Reaching Kids: An Advertiser’s Perspective on Kids Media, so make sure you add the session to your schedule through MyEvent (here’s a tutorial that shows you how). You can’t afford to miss out on this chance to better understand the needs and motivations of the kids TV industry’s ultimate gatekeepers.

That’s it from me until the New Year. Happy holidays!

Jim Benton to lead fun story development workshops

Hey everybody,

I’m thrilled to announce that Jim Benton (the evil genius behind It’s Happy Bunny, Franny K. Stein and Dear Dumb Diary) has agreed to bring his signature story brainstorming workshop to the Summit this year. Running twice on Thursday, February 12, these free-form idea jams are a ton of fun - if you don’t believe me, check out the hilarious flapjack love story that came out of a recent Scholastic gathering.

We only have room for 30 delegates at each session, so you’ll have to sign up to attend starting on Tuesday, January 20. Don’t worry, we’ll keep you on the ball with ample reminders in the New Year.

Hi everyone!

We are ready to start accepting applications for Pitch It! Tapping into a genre revival, this year’s live pitch competition shines a spotlight on some of the most promising tween projects hitting the market. Our panel of industry judges will choose five brave producers to pitch their projects for 8 to 12s live at the end of the Summit, with an enthusiastic crowd of attendees rooting them on.

Based on project merit and pitch quality, the judges will select one lucky winner to walk away with a free pass to next year’s event and a full-page ad in KidScreen magazine. This is a great way to build profile for your project and attract partners quickly!

The application deadline is Friday, January 9. Click here to get to the form.

Cheers,

-joce
