Netflix has signed a new multi-year overall agreement with California-based Kuku Studios that will see its key members Alex Woo, Stanley Moore, Tim Hahn and Erik Benson exclusively produce animated films and series for the streamer. Woo was a former Pixar story lead on Ratatouille and Benson wrote the story for the Good Dinosaur. Together the creative team’s credits also include WALL-E, Toy Story 3, Monster’s University and Finding Dory.

Under the deal, the team is creating Kuku’s first animated feature film. It isn’t titled yet but will explore the power and magic of dreams and be produced out of its Berkeley studio.

Kuku was previously commissioned by Netflix to make preschool series Go! Go! Cory Carson (pictured), based on the Go! Go! Smart Wheels toy from VTech Electronics. Premiering in 2020, it will track a little kid car with an engine that runs on fun in the town of Bumperton Hills. It was first announced in late 2018 as part of a big animated slate, which also includes Kid Cosmic from Powerpuff Girls creator Craig McCracken and Trash Truck from Oscar-winning production designer Max Keane.

Netflix has been building up its roster of animation talent recently locking in an overall deal with the StoryBots creators and acquiring the entire preschool property. It also signed a similar deal with former Pixar producer Darla Anderson earlier this year to develop and produce new animated and live-action feature films and series.
