Disney Channel has ordered a third season of Big Hero 6 The Series ahead of the May 6 premiere of season two, which itself was ordered before the first episodes of the animated show even aired.
Continuing the adventures of young tech genius Hiro, the newest 25 x 22-minute episodes will put his compassionate robot Baymax and their friends in upgraded super-suits as they take on a variety of villains and monsters. A trio of shorts—illustrated in watercolor—will roll out May 7 on Disney Channel, DisneyNOW and Disney’s YouTube channel.
Based on the Oscar-winning feature film Big Hero 6 (which took home US$657 million at the global box office), the series is executive produced by Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Nick Filipi (Kim Possible). Season one currently airs on Disney XD.
