LA-based Unique Vintage is recreating 12 classic Barbie fashion looks as part of the doll’s 60th anniversary celebration. The Barbie x Unique Vintage collection is a continuation of the clothing company’s 18-month partnership with Mattel and features fashions from the late 1950s to the mid-1980s.
Available through the fashion retailer’s website, the collection offers a wide range of sizes—from XS to 5X—and recreates some of Barbie’s most famous fashion looks, including the black and white chevron stripe bathing suit the doll debuted in. Pieces are available from US$58 to US$210.
Mattel kicked off celebrations for Barbie’s 60th anniversary on International Women’s Day earlier this month. In addition to consumer products collaborations with the likes of Unique Vintage, the toymaker is hosting a number of anniversary events, including an immersive pop-up experience in New York City and the months-long “Be Anything” Tour stopping at 36 Walmart locations across the US.
Barbie’s anniversary comes as the doll brand continues to drive growth for Mattel. Fiscal 2018 saw Barbie sales reach US$1.09 billion, a five-year high, and the toyco recently announced it will continue to think pink with a live-action Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie.
