For the first time, Disney will be simultaneously launching consumer product programs for two major entertainment events with toys for both Star Wars: Episode IX and Frozen 2 hitting shelves globally on October 4 ahead of the scheduled movie releases on December 20 and November 22, respectively.
The House of Mouse’s third Force Friday marketing stunt—this year referred to as Triple Force Friday—will feature consumer products inspired by the upcoming feature film as well as the first live-action Star Wars series The Mandalorian, which is set to premiere exclusively on Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+, and the adventure game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order from EA and Respawn. Products spanning categories including toys, collectibles, books and apparel will be available at 12:01 a.m. on October 4 and retailers around the world will feature in-store events to celebrate the launch.
Frozen Fan Fest will launch at the same time, and will include in-store events, musical moments and a number of new products inspired by the brand including toys, apparel, fashion accessories, housewares and books. Following its premiere in 2013, Frozen went on to earn more than US$1.25 billion at the global box office.
