Brit prodco Lime Pictures has secured an option to adapt The Apprentice Witch, a bestselling kids book series from author James Nicol, as a live-action drama for kids eight to 12.

Lime secured the rights to the book trilogy—The Apprentice WitchA Witch Alone and upcoming title A Witch Come True—from Chicken House and The Viney Shaw Agency. It tells the story of a young witch trying to unravel the mystery surrounding a small village called Lull.

Earlier this week, Lime launched a new Liverpool-based kids division and promoted Angelo Abela and Tim Compton to head it up. The studio’s portfolio includes kids productions Free Rein (Netflix), The Evermoor Chronicles (Disney), House of Anubis (Nickelodeon) and Rocket’s Island (CBBC).
