UglyDolls global agent White Space Entertainment and sub-agent CPLG have inked a number of licensing agreements in Europe for the property’s upcoming feature film, which is set to hit screens in May.
New partners in the UK include Centum Publishing (movie novelization and chapter books), Signature Publishing (magazine), Spearmark International (lunchware and lighting), Danilo (greeting cards and calendars), Kokomo (health and beauty), Whitehouse Leisure (plush and novelty), C&M Licensing (nightwear and underwear), Roy Lowe (socks) and Rainbow Productions (costume characters and live appearances).
In Benelux, Van der Erve (apparel and accessories), Texco (curtains and roller blinds), Jacob Company (back-to-school) and Ben Veldkamp (costume character appearances) have also signed on.
New partners in Iberia include Airval (health and beauty), Stor (lunchware) and Tasty & Unique (cookies, confectionery, milk and healthy snacks). Penguin Random House (movie book and story books) and Karactermania (stationery) are on board in Spain specifically, and KStationery is has been tapped to develop bags in Portugal.
NICI will launch stationery and gift products in Germany and France, while Stamatis is on board for apparel, accessories and tableware in Greece. Giovas (back-to-school and stationery) has also signed on for Greece and Malta.
Character World (bedding and home textiles), BIP (confectionery) and Sambro International (stationery, arts & crafts and bags) have inked multi-territory deals.
Earlier this month, UglyDolls owner STX Entertainment and Alibaba Pictures formed a partnership to co-produce and co-finance content inspired by the plush toy brand. The agreement covers the upcoming animated feature film, as well as an animated series in development with Hulu, digital and print publishing, mobile and educational games, soundtrack and music, and licensing programs covering toys, dolls, collectibles and arts & crafts products.
