French distributor Superights has sold the first season of Spark AS’s live-action preschool series Bo Bear (pictured) to broadcasters across Europe and Asia, as well as picking up distribution rights to the IP’s theatrical feature Bo Bear at the Farm.
The 26 x five-minute Norwegian and English series—the first live-action show in Superights’ catalogue—has been bought by VRT (Belgium), NPO (Netherlands), CJ (South Korea), ERR (Estonia) and LTV (Latvia). Season one has also been presold to DR (Denmark), UR (Sweden) and YLE (Finland).
Commissioned by NRK Norway and produced by Norwegian indie Spark AS, Bo Bear is a comedy series featuring the life lessons learned by a group of young kids and their puppet best friend. A second season, which will be available in May 2019, will cover topics including older siblings, annoying clothes and being new to kindergarten.
In addition, Superights will begin distributing Bo Bear at the Farm, a one-hour feature that premiered in Norway on March 23 and ranked 11th at the Norwegian box office (all genres) in 2018.
Last June, the series won a Theme Prize at the international children’s TV festival Prix Jeunesse in Munich, Germany.
