DHX Media has closed 10 new distribution deals for its underwater adventure series The Deep. Season three was sold to CBBC (UK), Super RTL (Germany), VRT (Belgium), NRK (Norway), KidsZone (Baltics), S4C (UK and Wales), SVT (Sweden) and TVP (Poland), while France Télévisions and RTP (Portugal) acquired seasons one and two.
The Deep has now been licensed to more than 40 broadcasters and streaming platforms worldwide, including DHX’s own platform Family CHRGD (Canada) and Netflix, which earlier this year picked up the show’s third season in a worldwide deal.
Co-produced by DHX Media (animation, post-production and distribution), Australia’s A Stark Production (scripts, design and music) and Technicolor, which holds the underlying rights to the property, The Deep is based on a graphic novel series created by Tom Taylor. It stars the Nekton family, a brilliant team of underwater explorers who are fascinated by the mysterious depths of the ocean.
