OTT streamer Sling TV has signed on to carry UK-based SVOD service Hopster, making hundreds of preschool shows available to subscribers in the US.
For a monthly subscription fee of US$5, Sling TV now offers Hopster’s catalogue of kids and family shows, music and video books on TV and mobile devices via the app. The content is already available on Roku streaming players, Amazon and Android devices.
The launch on Sling TV rounds out a busy year for the SVOD app. Hopster launched on Comcast’s Xfinity Z1 service in the US for a US$4.99 subscription fee in September, marking the first time its content was available on a pay-TV provider in the US, and signed a deal with Scottish pubcaster STV for hundreds of eps to be made available on a branded area within the STV Player VOD app. On top of that, the preschool platform launched new coding game Hopster Coding Safari that teaches basic coding skills to kids as young as two years old, and commissioned empathy-focused preschool series Saturday Club in partnership with Irish media company Dog Ears.
