Netflix has signed a new multi-year overall deal with Doc McStuffins creator Chris Nee. Under the terms of the deal, Nee will be writing and producing new animated and live-action series exclusively for Netflix.

The streamer will also have a first-look option for any feature film projects from Nee and her production company, Laughing Wild.

Nee is the creator and executive producer of the animated Disney Junior series Doc McStuffins, which was the first preschool show to feature an animated African American female as the lead character, as well as a family led by LGBTQ parents. She has also developed and executive produced Disney Junior’s Vampirina. Nee previously worked as an associate producer at Sesame Street International, where she spent time in Mexico, Finland, Israel and Jordan working on local productions of the long-running show.

This move is the latest in a string of overall deals signed by Disney and Netflix in the kids space including Disney’s recent deals with Eric Friedman, Craig Gerber, and Travis Braun. Netflix, for its part, has recently been snapping up Disney talent including working with Alex Woo (Wall-ERatatouille) and Stanley Moore (Finding DoryMonster’s University) on a new series titled Go! Go! Cory Carson and with Silvia Olivas (Elena of Avalor), who is co-writing and co-executive producing a new series called Maya and the Three with Jeff Ranjo (Moana) serving as head of story.
