Pac-Man teams with Ralph on game, toys

The iconic Bandai Namco brand is partnering with Disney’s Wreck-It Ralph for a new Ralph Breaks the Maze phone game and collectible toys.

Bandai Namco Entertainment has partnered with Walt Disney Animation for Pac-Man: Ralph Breaks the Maze. Available for free to download from the App Store and through Google Play, the colorful mobile mash-up game includes a remastered version of the Pac-Man characters eating pellets to weaken ghosts, alongside ones from the Disney universe smashing for higher scores.

Participating retailers will also be selling Wreck-It Ralph Power PAC mini figure toys that unlock more content in the game. Each of the collectible toys feature special redeemable codes found inside their packaging that unlock virtual characters including Wreck-It Ralph, Vanellope von Schweetz, Fix-It Felix Jr., Elsa, Eeyore and Snow White.

This is Disney’s latest push for its Ralph Breaks the Internet movie, which was released in US theaters yesterday and is expected to break records over the weekend. The studio also just released a VR experience in partnership with ILMxLAB and VOID that allows players to immerse themselves in the games shown in the movie. And it rolled out Pancake Milkshake, a new type of game available exclusively through iMessage on iPhones, rather than as a standalone app.
