November 12, 2018

The Toy Industry Association has named 123 finalists for the 2019 Toy of the Year (TOTY) Awards, and Mattel and LEGO are leading the pack with nine nods each. The finalists were selected by a committee of 20 industry experts—including retail buyers, journalists, bloggers and academics—from more than 500 nominees in 17 award categories.

Mattel is a finalist in the Action Figure, Collectibles, Doll, Infant/Toddler, License, Playset and Preschool categories, while LEGO scored nods in the Collectibles, Construction, Playset, Preschool, Specialty and Vehicle categories.

Spin Master (shortlisted in seven categories), Hasbro (six), Moose Toys (five) and MGA Entertainment (five) are also in the hunt for mutiple wins.

People can cast their votes in all 17 categories at the Toy Awards website until January 6. The winners will be announced during a celebration at the North American International Toy Fair in New York on February 15.
