Cartoon Network is celebrating the 20th anniversary of The Powerpuff Girls with content, consumer products and a brand-new internship initiative.
CN’s year-long Empowerpuff Program is looking for individuals (who must be 18 years or older) to be official ambassadors for The Powerpuff Girls brand, creating content for its social media channels and contributing to production and marketing efforts.
As part of the anniversary celebration, CN and knitwear designer Lingua Franca have partnered on an “Empowerpuff” made-to-order sweater, with all sales proceeds going to the New York-based Lower Eastside Girls Club.
The kidsnet has also launched a music video for a new version of The Powerpuff Girls theme song, featuring female animators from around the world—including Delfina Perez Adan (Argentina), Dahee Jeong (South Korea), Xiya Lan (China), Réka Bucsi (Hungary), Jasmin Lai and Marlène Beaube (the US)—and their take on the classic series. And finally, Cartoon Network will livestream episodes of the show on Cartoonnetwork.com for 72 hours starting on November 16.
