Austin, Texas-based media company Tankee has released an on-demand mobile entertainment app for kids ages six to 12 featuring more than 300 hours of curated and licensed gaming videos.
Currently available in open beta for iPad on the App Store, the self-titled app offers gameplay videos from Minecraft, Roblox and Rocket League (pictured). Exclusive original content in partnership with top gaming influencers and publishers is expected to launch in the coming months via Tankee’s in-house production unit. Current influencer partners include CutePlay, NyteOwl, Speedy, Thinknoodles and ThnxCya, who collectively reach a social media audience of 50 million.
Co-founded and created by gaming specialists Gerald Youngblood and Dan Chiu, Tankee has also partnered with UK digital platform SuperAwesome, Warner Bros.’ digital game division Machinima, and digital media brand SuperParent.
Through SuperAwesome, Tankee is leveraging the company’s Kids Web Services (KWS) platform for secure parental authorization, as well as AwesomeAds for age-appropriate advertising. Machinima, for its part, has linked up with Tankee for a slate of its content featuring popular creators such as AviatorGaming, Biggs87x, ECKOSOLDIER, JeromeASF, and Unspeakable. SuperParent, meanwhile, provides feature and review content for Tankee’s parent portal, plus additional customized kids content.
Avatar creation, stickers for reacting to content in real time, plus highlight clip and saving functions will also be available in the app.
After beta testing, a full version of Tankee will launch later this summer followed by access on additional platforms.
