Barcelona-based Imira Entertainment has signed on to distribute and co-produce the new kids CGI comedy series Mondo Yan. Additional co-producers include Spain’s Televisió de Catalunya TV3, India’s Toonz Media Group and Ireland’s Telegael.
Aimed at kids ages five to eight, the 52 x 12-minute comedy series follows three unlikely heroes entrusted with the mission to save humanity from the rule of an unscrupulous leader. LA-based kids writer David Lewman (George of the Jungle, Kick Buttowski, 3rd Rock from the Sun) is serving as the script editor across all 52 episodes.
Televisió de Catalunya is handling development and pre-production on the series, with Toonz responsible for production and Telegael handling elements of both pre- and post-production. Imira, meanwhile, will distribute the series globally, spearhead the production of the project and coordinate the work between the three other co-producers.
Earlier this year, Paul Robinson took over as Imira CEO when Sergi Reitg stepped down. Robinson previously held senior positions at Disney EMEA and NBCUniversal.
