Banijay Group’s Zodiak Kids is partnering with Icelandic lifestyle brand Tulipop on a co-development and co-production deal for an animated TV series based on Tulipop’s characters and landscapes.
The agreement will see Zodiak Kids hold the worldwide audio-visual distribution rights (excluding Nordic territories) for the show. Tulipop, meanwhile, will retain distribution rights in the Nordics as well as global product rights to the brand. Development on the animated series will begin this summer.
Inspired by ancient fairytales, Tulipop was founded in 2010 by Icelandic illustrator Signy Kolbeinsdottir and marketing expert Helga Arnadottir. The brands products are available throughout Europe and the US.
Earlier this year, DHX-owned WildBrain announced it was going to produce 10 additional episodes of the YouTube series Tulipop, after previously signing on to turn the brand into an animated series. The new content will join the show’s existing 30 x two-minute webisodes.
