Turner gears up to launch Toonix app in Nordic region

Turner EMEA has announced it will launch the ad-free, direct-to-consumer OTT app across the Nordic region later this summer.

Turner EMEA has announced that its Toonix app—an ad-free, direct-to-consumer OTT service geared toward kids—will launch across the Nordic region later this summer.

The app targets families and children ages three to 12, and will offer instant access to more than 1,000 hours of curated content from Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network, as well as third parties and local acquisitions.

Movies and shows featured on the app will include Adventure Time (pictured), BarbapapaTeen Titans Go!, Peppa Pig, Scooby-Doo, Bamse and the City of Thieves, The Amazing World of Gumball, Masha and the Bear and LEGO Batman: The Movie – DC Super Heroes Unite. The app will also feature a variety of kid-friendly games.

The Toonix app will be available throughout the Nordic region (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland) in both English and in local languages, and will be available on demand through iOS and Android phones, tablets and smart TVs.

The Toonix brand first launched across the Nordics in 2017, when its streaming service bowed on HBO Nordic (Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Finland). The service is available for consumers on HBO Nordic’s website at no additional fee, as well as through distribution partners in the region.
