Technicolor launches The Deep 4D experience

An immersive 4D theatrical experience inspired by the underwater series will premiere in a number of US aquariums and resorts this month.

Parisian studio Technicolor is set to launch an immersive 4D theatrical experience inspired by its adventure series The Deep.

Created in partnership with SimEx-Iwerks Entertainment, The Deep 4D: Mystery of the Ancient Amulet will launch this month at the Georgia Aquarium (Atlanta), the Shedd Aquarium (Chicago), the Texas State Aquarium (Corpus Christi) and the Orlando Holiday Inn Resort. The 12-minute movie experience features new 3D/CG animation along with effects like vibrating seats, spraying water and bubbles.

Additionally, The Deep licensing agent and broadcasting partner Super RTL has inked a trio of L&M agreements for the brand in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. TIB Heyne & Co (partyware), Blue Ocean Entertainment AG (magazines) and Justbridge Entertainment GmbH (home video and download-to-own rights) have all joined the IP’s program. New products will launch this fall to coincide with the debut of master toy partner Simba Toys’ range of figures, playsets and role-play toys.

The Deep is co-produced by Australia’s A Stark Production and Canada’s DHX Media. Technicolor, as underlying rights holder, has oversight of the brand’s licensing extensions. Distribution for the underwater-themed show is also handled by DHX Media, while CPLG serves as licensing agent in a number of territories, including North America, EMEA (excluding Germany) and Latin America.
