MarVista bolsters distribution, marketing efforts

The prodco has hired new distribution and marketing directors, and expanded the role of its operations SVP, as it continues to grow those business areas.

LA-based MarVista Entertainment has made two new additions to its marketing and distribution operations.

Former Playster content acquisitions executive Michol Hatwan (middle) has been tapped as director of distribution, where she will be responsible for US and Canadian sales. Hatwan will report to global distribution boss Jody Cipiriano, who recently joined the indie producer/distributor to spearhead cross-platform content sales and acquisitions. Hatwan was also previously manager of digital sales at Cinedigm, where she oversaw film and TV licensing.

Stephanie Dillard (right)a former marketing exec at The Walt Disney Company, Sony Pictures Entertainment and Intelhas signed on as MarVista’s new marketing director to oversee campaigns for the company’s programming content domestically, internationally and on emerging platforms. While at Sony Pictures, Dillard played a role in the early growth of the media company’s Crackle TV and movie streaming service.

In addition to the new appointments, Candace Johnston’s (left) role as SVP of operations has been expanded to include management of MarVista’s newly launched revenue operations team. The 10-year MarVista vet’s new remit includes leading strategic direction, development and insights.

MarVista has been focused on internal growth in the last year, bringing on several new executives in January. On the content front, the prodco recently picked up exclusive global distribution rights to preschool series Dream Street from Platinum Films.
