Turner’s Cartoon Network has upped programming VP Vishnu Athreya to SVP of programming.

In his new expanded role, Athreya will add oversight of series development for Boomerang and will continue to helm scheduling, acquisitions, and programming content strategy across all Cartoon Network- and Boomerang-branded linear and non-linear platforms.

He will be based in Atlanta and continue to report to Cartoon Network CCO Rob Sorcher.

Prior to his promotion, Athreya served as programming VP since 2014 where he led long-range calendar planning and developed creative strategies for on-air stunts and special events around CN’s expanding library of original, acquired and classic animated programming.

He originally joined Turner’s kids channels Cartoon Network, Toonami, POGO, Boomerang and Cartoonito in Asia Pacific in 2008 as executive director of programming, acquisitions and product development.
