With its signature slime and youth-generated votes in hand, Nickelodeon honored fan favorites in film, music, TV and digital categories at the 31st annual Kids’ Choice Awards on Saturday.
Sony Picture’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was deemed Favorite Movie, and its star, Dwayne Johnson, won Favorite Movie Actor. Netflix’s Stranger Things also scored double wins, picking up the award for Favorite TV Show and Favorite TV Actress (thanks to Millie Bobby Brown). Nickelodeon won the remaining TV awards for Favorite Cartoon (SpongeBob SquarePants) and Favorite TV Actor (Jace Norman in Henry Danger).
Hosted by WWE star and Nickelodeon content collaborator John Cena, the event featured celebrity appearances from Kristen Bell, Olympian Chloe Kim and Jaden Smith, as well as a ceremony performance from viral star JoJo Siwa. It also incorporated interactive elements including audience live-voting and real-time play-alongs on Nick’s digital platforms.
Votes were digitally cast by kids and families across 19 categories–including new ones like Favorite Funny YouTube Creator, Favorite Musical YouTube Creator, Favorite Dance Trend and Favorite Instagram Pet.
